National Museum of Nuclear Science & History

Vanstrum began working on the Manhattan Project soon after receiving his engineering degree from the University of Minnesota. He began his work at Columbia University, but in 1945 he was transferred to Oak Ridge. At Oak Ridge, he led a team that measured air leakage at the K-25 plant.
