Irving Bubos was a research assistant in the Metallurgical Laboratory (“Met Lab”) at the University of Chicago during the Manhattan Project.
Melvin H. Bierman served as a sergeant in the 393rd Bombardment Squadron. Bierman was regularly assigned as a tail gunner in the Up An’ Atom, but did not fly in that plane in the August 1945 bombing missions on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Raymond L. Miller served in the 390th Air Service Group. After the War, he was one of the men assigned to the Japan Atomic Bomb Damage Survey teams.
Elmer C. Sekeres served in the 393rd Bombardment Squadron.
