Barney J. O’Keefe served in the military as an ensign during the war. He was a member of Project Alberta, the team that transported and assembled the two atomic bombs preceeding the August 1945 bombing missions on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Nannilee Saunders set up the elementary at Los Alamos, NM, during the Manhattan Project. She began to work at Los Alamos in August 1943, working for 11 months while on a leave of absence from a college in Chicago.
Walton A. Rodger was an American chemical and metallurgical engineer. Rodger received a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois.
