Lawrence Bartell was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on February 2, 1923. In 1944, after completing his studies at the University of Michigan, Bartell joined Glenn Seaborg's uranium research team.
John D. Kuharek served as a master sergeant in the 393rd Bombardment Squadron. He was assigned to the Great Artiste as a flight engineer and flew in the mission to Hiroshima.
Alan A. Jarrett was a research assistant the University of Chicago’s Metallurgical Laboratory (“Met Lab”) during the Manhattan Project.
