National Museum of Nuclear Science & History
Herbert York (1921-2009) was a part-Mohawk American physicist. After graduating with a master’s in physics from the University of Rochester in 1942, York went directly to work at the Berkeley Radiation Laboratory connected with the Manhattan Project.
A. T. Helgerson worked for the Tennessee Eastman Corporation at the Y-12 Plant.
Ernest Wende was transferred into the Manhattan District, the branch of the United States Army Corps of Engineers tasked with overseeing the construction of critical Manhattan Project sites, shortly after its formation in 1942.
