Roderick W. Spence was an American physical chemist who worked on the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos. He later ran the Radiochemistry Group at Los Alamos for the post-war nuclear program. Spence later noted on Los Alamos, “There was an aura, a sense of something about the place. . . . It’s hard to describe.”
