Sylvia Warshaw was a Polish-American who worked as a research assistant in the chemistry division of the Chicago Met Lab. Warshaw was born in Poland in 1921. She studied at Wright Junior College and the University of Pittsburgh before coming to Chicago in 1946.

Karl Walther was a glassblower for Columbia University and Brookhaven National Laboratory. During the Manhattan Project, Walther worked as a senior glassblower at the Nash Garage Building at Columbia, where scientists developed the gaseous diffusion process.
