John Attanas was born in 1920 and grew up on farm near Kingston, New York. After graduating from Georgia Tech in 1942 with a degree in chemical engineering, he worked in a chemistry lab at the Remington Arms Company.
R. B. Smith worked for the Union Carbide & Carbon Corporation.
Donald “Don” Hornig (1920-2013) was an American chemist. Hornig was recruited to join the laboratory at Los Alamos in 1944, just one year after receiving his doctorate in physcial chemistry from Harvard University.
C. W. Hicks worked for the Roane-Anderson Company.
