George de Hevesy was a Hungarian radiochemist and winner of the 1943 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. De Hevesy was born in Hungary to a wealthy noble family.
Gilbert Plass was a Canadian physicist. Plass was born in 1922 in Toronto. He received a B.S. in physics from Harvard University before being hired to work on the Manhattan Project at the Chicago Met Lab, where he worked as an associate physicist.
Harold Hoover was a member of the Special Engineer Detachment during the Manhattan Project. He worked as a filter foreman at the Y-12 Plant, but his real job was in counterintelligence, to ensure no sabotage occurred.
