Joseph W. Giroux was a Private First Class in the 1st Ordnance Squadron. Giroux was born in Worthington in the district of Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, on October 24, 1921.
Ralph Lapp was an American physicist. He was born in Buffalo, New York in 1917. He was completing his PhD at the University of Chicago when he stumbled upon Enrico Fermi’s team working under Stagg’s Field in December of 1942, and was hired on the spot to work on the development of the atomic bomb.
Richard B. Anselme served as a corporal in the 393rd Bombardment Squadron. He was the assistant engineer/scanner of the B-29 Full House, which served as a weather reconnaissance plane on the Hiroshima bombing mission, and the backup strike plane on Iwo Jima on the Nagasaki mission.
