Douglas Meigs

Douglas Meigs was a civilian chemical engineer working for H. K. Ferguson, the company that built and operated the S-50 Thermal Diffusion facility at Oak Ridge. On September 2nd, 1944, he was tragically killed, along with Peter Bragg, in an accident at the Naval Research Lab in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Meigs and Bragg had been attempting to unclog a pipe system used in the liqued thermal diffusion process that contained liquid uranium hexafluoride and high-pressure steam.
