Ruth Elizabeth Cone was from Nashville, Tennessee. In 1943, she moved to Oak Ridge with her husband, Willard C. Cone, who worked for the Tennessee Eastman Corporation and the Union Carbide and Carbon Corporation. During the Manhattan Project, the Cones and their four children first lived at 113 West Malta Road. In 1947, they moved to 109 Tomlinson Road.
