Rachel Gilbreath was a laboratory technician at the University of Chicago’s Metallurgical Laboratory (“Met Lab”) during the Manhattan Project.

Gilbreath began working at the Met Lab in the Health Physics Group. In April 1946, she was transferred to the Solvent-Extraction Group in the Chemistry Division.
