Betty L. Carlson was a stenographer at the University of Chicago’s Metallurgical Laboratory (“Met Lab”) during the Manhattan Project. Working within the Chemistry Division, she was also the secretary to John Willard, the Associate Chief of Section C-II and leader of high-temperature pile work.
