Eleese Bowman was a laboratory assistant in the Metallurgical Laboratory (“Met Lab”) at the University of Chicago during the Manhattan Project. She worked with a number of other women technicians, such as Addie Saunders, Nellie Jennings, Julia Elaine Freeman, Valda B. Lemke, Evelyn J. Brown, and Marilyn Jordan.
