Robert I. Howes Jr. is an American physicist. He was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1941, and was less than two years old when his father Robert Ingersoll Howes joined the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos.

Elton H. Turk was a research assistant at the Metallurgical Laboratory in Chicago during the Manhattan Project.
