Sergeant William Barney was a Radar Operator assigned to the Bockscar’s original crew. He was a member of the 393rd Bombardment Squadron, a segment of the 509th Composite Group.
Anthony J. (“Tony”) Matz was a procurement officer at the University of Chicago Met Lab. He helped obtain, handle, and move many of the materials for Chicago Pile-1 and witnessed it going critical on December 2, 1942.
R. M. Ayers worked for the Roane-Anderson Company.
M. J. McDaniel worked for Clinton Laboratories at the X-10 Reactor.
