Jacob Beser served as a 1st lieutenant in the 393rd Bombardment Squadron’s Radar Section. He was the radar specialist aboard the Enola Gay bombing mission to Hiroshima and on Bockscar during the Nagasaki mission.
Merrill Garrett worked at the Y-12 Plant at Oak Ridge, TN during the Manhattan Project. A high school football star, Garrett received an appointment to the United States Military Academy, but was forced to decline due to financial circumstances during the Great Depression.
Smith worked at the 200 Area at Hanford during the Manhattan Project.
Winfield C. Kinkade served as a corporal in the 393rd Bombardment Squadron. He was a member of the ground crew regularly assigned to the B-29 Enola Gay.
