Isabella Karle (1921-2017) was a pioneer in the scientific field of crystallography. Her work on molecular structures had a sweeping influence across many scientific fields by allowing, for example, scientists to study nerve transmissions and aiding chemists in synthesizing pest repellents.
Oscar J. Thigpen served as a corporal in the 393rd Bombardment Squadron. He was a member of the ground crew regularly assigned to the B-29 Top Secret.
Elinor Bowman was a laboratory assistant in the Chemistry Division at the Metallurgical Laboratory in Chicago during the Manhattan Project.
