National Museum of Nuclear Science & History

Vincent “Bud” Whitehead met his wife, Clare, in 1944 at Hanford. Both were from Portland, Oregon and involved in military intelligence. Bud, a civil engineering graduate, was working for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers when he was drafted in 1942. He served as a counter-intelligence agent at Hanford.
